How to Hire a Car with Didi Chuxing App

Didi Chuxing (滴滴出行) is a combination of Didi Dache, its former name and model only focused on professional taxis, and Uber. In this article, we will show you how to hire a car on Didi Chuxing. Some basic knowledge of Mandarin is required as you will have to select locations displayed in Chinese characters.

1. Download Didi Chuxing from your app store or from the Didi Chuxing website

Depending on the app store you might need to enter the Chinese characters滴滴出行 (Didi Chuxing) to find the app:

lApp store (iOS): 滴滴出行
lPlay store (Android): didi chuxing or滴滴出行
Chinese app stores: didi chuxing or滴滴出行

2. Allow the app to access your location

3. Check your position on the map

You can adjust your position by moving the cursor. The address at the bottom will automatically change.

4. Input your phone number to log in to your account

5. Input the verification code sent to your phone

6. You are now logged in to your Didi Chuxing account

7. Select the type of car you want

Didi Chuxing offers 4 different types of cars. We ranged them from the cheapest to the most expensive option:

a. 顺风车: Carpooling, you share the car with other passengers

b. 快车: Low-end private car

c. 出租车: Taxi, same price as a standard cab

d. 专车: High-end private car, more comfortable

Once you have selected the vehicle type you want, you will be able to see all the cars available near you.

8. Enter your destination

Click on the orange characters 你要去哪儿 (= Where do you want to go?) at the bottom to input your destination.

This step requires some knowledge of Mandarin as destinations are only displayed in Chinese language. Make sure you type the right characters.

9. Submit your request

Once you have entered your destination, click on the orange button to submit your request.

You can also use your WeChat account to book and pay a taxi. To do so, go to your wallet, scroll down until you see the third party service providers and click on Order Taxi.
